Assam teas are categorized in first flush and second flush teas. The first flush has a rich and fresh aroma, while the second flush produces the famous “tipsy teas (tipsy refers to its black tea leaves with golden tips). The golden tip present in Assam tea blends tends to lessen the astringent characteristic of the tea, making it sweet and smooth.
